Bendtner dropped from national team

Nicklas Bendtner has been dropped from the Danish national team with the manager, Morten Olson, saying that the player needs to sort out his club position.

Bendtner has been the subject of at least six bids from other clubs, all of which have been accepted by Arsenal but he has yet to agree terms with any of them due to his wage demands.

Now the player’s refusal to do whatever it takes to get playing time has impacted on his national career but it remains to be seen if even that will have an effect on the player or if he’d rather just collect his wages while not bothering about getting any minutes under his belt.

Olson told the media

“We know that Nicklas has a slightly different body than Lars Jacobsen, so he must be in a different playing and physical shape, so he’s obviously not in form.

“There will hopefully be something relating to his club situation.

“We hope that everything will come together for him.”

Bendtner has been back training at Arsenal since his summer break and there have been reports that he was blaming Arsenal and the fee they were asking for him as the reason he was unable to find a new club. Arsenal might be to blame for paying him a ridiculous amount to begin with when he didn’t warrant it but it is totally his remit now as to where he puts his priorities – playing football or collecting a nice fat cheque.

Denmark play Poland in a friendly on August 14th.
